We have been informed by Scottsh Gas Networks of some planned gas main replacement works which will be affecting access to Newtongrage via the A7 (just past the Mining Museum). Here is the information we received: We’re looking to start work to replace the gas main within the Main Street area of Newtongrange on Saturday the 17 October 2020. Our project will be carried out by our contractor George Ritchie, Utilities on our behalf and will last approximately 5 weeks. To ensure everyone’s safety, local diversion routes will be in operation during this time. Parking suspensions will be in place for the duration of our works although access to driveways will always be maintained where possible. There will also be a requirement to use temporary signals from time to time. These may cause delays during peak periods. From the 17 October we need to close Main Street junction with Murderdean Road, Newtongrange to through vehicular traffic for approximately nine days. This phase of the project has been planned during the local school holidays. The local bus service will also be diverted during this time, please check with your service provider for exact routes. Information will be placed on bus stops in advance of works starting and bus operators will also have information on their websites and social media channels. One entrance to the Saughs will also be closed however access to this street will be available at all times. This will commence after completion of the above. A map showing the closure from 17 - 26 October is attached below:
